The South Lake Art League (SLAL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-driven arts organization dedicated to fostering creativity, supporting artists, and promoting the visual arts throughout South Lake County. Through exhibitions, classes, workshops, and community art programs, SLAL provides opportunities for artists and art enthusiasts to learn, create, exhibit, and connect in an inspiring and welcoming environment.

Founded in 1966, SLAL is one of the longest-standing arts organizations in the region and has played an important role in the cultural life of South Lake County for nearly six decades. In 2026, SLAL proudly celebrates its 60th anniversary, marking a legacy of artistic achievement, education, and community involvement.

Located in Historic Downtown Clermont, SLAL is housed in a charming mid-century building that has served as its home for generations. The gallery functions as both an exhibition space and an active creative hub, where members and visitors can experience original artwork, participate in classes and workshops, attend special events, and engage with a vibrant community of artists.

Over the years, SLAL has helped cultivate a thriving arts community by providing opportunities for local artists to share their work, gain visibility, and connect with the public. Today, SLAL produces two juried fine art exhibitions and two juried photography exhibitions annually, showcasing the work of talented artists from throughout the region. The organization also proudly supports emerging artists through annual exhibitions featuring middle and high school student artwork, helping to encourage the next generation of creative talent.

What began as a small group of artists in 1966 has grown into a lasting cultural institution that continues to shape the creative fabric of South Lake County. As SLAL enters its seventh decade, it looks ahead to the future with the same spirit of volunteerism, artistic excellence, and community support that has sustained the organization for nearly six decades.
