South Lake Art League has long been a place where artists come together to learn, create, and inspire one another. Today, we’re excited to announce a new opportunity for artists and creative professionals to become part of that tradition by teaching at the League.
We’re now accepting class proposals from instructors who are passionate about sharing their skills and helping others grow as artists.
Whether you specialize in painting, drawing, watercolor, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry-making, fiber arts, book arts, photography, mixed media, calligraphy, or another fine art or fine craft discipline, we’d love to hear your ideas.
Our goal is to offer high-quality educational experiences that help students build artistic skills through meaningful, hands-on instruction. We welcome classes that teach specific techniques, encourage creative growth, and support lifelong learning in the arts.
Successful class proposals should:
- Teach a specific artistic skill or creative technique.
- Help students build or expand their artistic abilities.
- Be instructional rather than primarily entertainment-based.
- Support South Lake Art League’s mission of providing arts education and fostering creativity in our community.
While we welcome a wide variety of artistic disciplines, classes should focus on developing artistic knowledge and techniques rather than novelty crafts or simple make-and-take projects.
A New Approach for Instructors
Our updated instructor program gives artists more flexibility and independence while allowing South Lake Art League to continue expanding its educational offerings. Instructors manage their own registrations and class fees while teaching in our gallery classrooms. This sustainable model allows us to welcome more instructors, offer a greater variety of classes, and continue serving our growing creative community.
Submitting a class proposal is the first step in the review process. Proposals are evaluated based on educational value, instructor experience, and how well they align with the League’s mission. Submission does not guarantee approval or scheduling, but we encourage artists with a passion for teaching to apply.
If you’ve been thinking about sharing your knowledge, inspiring others, and becoming part of our vibrant arts community, we’d love to hear from you.
Visit our Instructor Guidelines page to learn more about the program, review the guidelines, and submit your class proposal.
Together, let’s continue building a creative community where artists of all experience levels can learn, grow, and create.
