Gallery Happenings:   Remember, we now have two locations.

Downtown Gallery,  776 W. Montrose Street   AND

Cagan Studio & Artist's Boutique, 16640 Cagan Crossings Blvd., Clermont

Montrose Gallery (Manager, Janice Senninger 407 256-3219)

The Montrose Gallery will be participating in the Light up Clermont event which will take place at Center Lake on Friday, Dec. 2 at 6:30pm with music and performers on stage at Center Lake and a downtown celebration to follow on Montrose Street until 9:00pm.   The festivities will continue on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9:00am - 3:00pm with a holiday craft show and food vendors on Montrose Street. 1:00pm will kick off the hometown holiday parade with the parade route traveling through historic downtown Clermont. This year's parade will feature local school bands, dignitaries, businesses, music and more!

As Dec. 3^rd is the first Saturday of the month, we will not be having a meeting on that day.  In fact, we will not have a meeting this month.   Instead, all members are invited to attend an Open House at the Artist's Boutique from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.  (More info in Cagan Gallery section)   There will be a short Board meeting on Wednesday, December 14^th at 2:30 pm at the Cagan Gallery to go over some important items.

A reminder to all Teachers and students:  Get your best works of art ready for exhibiting at the Student/Teacher Art Show, January 14 - 28.  Here's a chance for all the students to have their work seen on exhibit in an art gallery.  And, it's a great advertisement for the teachers.  Prospective students can see the fantastic art that is produced in your classes.  Be sure to get your students to participate.  There is no fee for this exhibit.   

The Photography Show will be March 10 - 24, 2012.  The Application will be on the website for all amateur photographers who wish to participate in the show. 

Cagan Gallery (Manager, Kathie Camara 352 241-6407)

The Artist's Boutique at Cagan Crossings is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, December 14^th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.  SLAL members are  invited to come in and meet our ‘resident artists' and instructors and see just what is offered for sale in our Boutique.  We will have music, refreshments, a door prize, and a good time.  Bring your kids and grandkids, as our artists will be helping the kids (and adults, if they want) to paint ornaments or holiday cards in the classroom for a $2.00 charge. 

Also on December 14^th, Cagan Town Center will be bustling with activity as the site of the 3rd Annual Winter Celebrationt 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.  30 specialty vendors in addition to the regular Farmer's Market vendors.  Enjoy live entertainment and more.

Come on down and see what Cagan Crossings and Cagan Studio are all about.

From the Leesburg area: Take Highway 27 South towards Clermont. You will pass over the Hwy 50 intersection. Stay on 27 about another 14 or 15 miles. From I-4 West: Exit at Highway 27 North. Continue past Highway 192 overpass. Cagan Crossings is located on the left side of the highway,approximately ¼ mile North of Highway 192.  At the traffic signal, take a left into Cagan Crossings.  Follow directions To reach the Gallery below:

To reach the Gallery:   go 1/2 way around the roundabout and take your second right, which is still Cagan Crossings Blvd.  On your left will be Cohen's Deli and our storefront is to the right of it.  You can park on the street in front or behind the stores, where they also have the Handicapped parking.  Drive past the stores, and take a left.  Take another left into the parking area.  The rear door says 304 on it.

Workshop Instructors Wanted: We are talking with some new instructors about providing 1 or 2 day workshops in

Colored Pencil and in Watercolor. Again, if you have taken a workshop from a great instructor, let Kathie Camara know

so she can see if the instructor will teach a workshop in Clermont.

Other Interesting Classes, Workshops, Exhibits, Events, Arts & Crafts Festivals:

Mt. Dora Art Stroll:   Mt. Dora Center for the Arts sponsors an Art Stroll in downtown Mt. Dora once every quarter.  (Jan/April/July/Oct)  The Art Stroll is designed to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the historical and cultural heart of the city while supporting one of our most valuable resources - our artist community of Central Florida.  The next one will be January 13^th  from 6 - 8 pm.    Our members have been extended an invitation to participate and there is no charge for this event.  If you are interested, please email krysta@mountdoracenterforthearts.org  ASAP, as they need a count of participating artists so they can assign locations.    This is a great marketing opportunity.
